In adherence to the progressive policies set forth by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and by Republic Act 11036, commonly known as the Mental Health Act of 2018, the Port Management of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MOC) recently organized a comprehensive Workplace Team Building and Wellness Program Batch 1. This initiative is designed to enhance employee well-being and organizational cohesion. It took place on July 19 to 21, 2024, in Dapitan City.

The program is rooted in PPA Memorandum Circular No. 001-2024, endorsed by the PPA Board of Directors through Resolution No. 3275. It integrates human resource and organizational development policies under the PPA Mental Health Program (MHP). This program aims to foster a supportive work environment that prioritizes the holistic wellness of its workforce.

Beyond wellness sessions, the program incorporated cultural enrichment through a historical tour of Punto de Dissembarco de Rizal en Dapitan and the Rizal Shrine on the first day. These activities provided a deeper understanding of local heritage and historical significance, enriching the participants’ overall experience. In the afternoon, PMO MOC personnel traveled to PMO Zamboanga del Norte for an Emotional Wellness lecture via Zoom by Mr. Roussell Ferrer, RPm from XU Ateneo’s Psychology Department followed by a talk delivered by Dr. Cristito Ruales from Dr. Jose P. Rizal Memorial Hospital about Intellectual Wellness in the Workplace, enriching participants’ understanding of occupational well-being.

The second day unfolded at Dakak Beach Resort, where the group engaged in activities promoting social interaction and teamwork. Later in the afternoon, the team ventured to Glorious Fantasyland Theme Park, enjoying adventure and relaxation through unlimited rides and attractions.

By adhering to the NWI’s wellness dimensions and leveraging digital platforms for remote engagement, PMO MOC exemplified proactive measures in nurturing a supportive workplace culture. Such initiatives not only enhance productivity but also cultivate a resilient and motivated workforce, poised to meet future challenges effectively.

The PMO MOC Workplace Team Building and Wellness Program in Dapitan City set a promising precedent for future batches, emphasizing the importance of holistic wellness in organizational success and employee satisfaction.
