On December 6, 2024, maritime and law enforcement agencies, along with shipping line representatives, convened at the New Port Operations Building in Balingoan for the 4th Quarter PMMAC/PSAC Meeting. The gathering provided a platform to discuss key issues and share updates on developments at the Port of Balingoan. Attendees included representatives from the PCG, MARINA, PNP Maritime Group, PNP Municipal Police Station, MDRRMO, LGU Balingoan, PCBSI PTMC, and various shipping lines.

The meeting highlighted PPA’s standard operating procedures during inclement weather, with participants receiving updates on handling stranded passengers and post-typhoon measures. Shipping lines were urged to enhance information dissemination regarding vessel cancellations using text blasts and social media channels. Additionally, stakeholders were reminded of existing port access control regulations.

A proposed port zoning scheme aimed at improving safety and security was also introduced. This initiative seeks to regulate access to specific areas and designate zones where appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory. Shipping lines and ancillary service providers were further advised to ensure compliance with accreditation and permit requirements as the renewal cycle approaches.
