Balingoan, Misamis Oriental — The entire Catholic community of Balingoan joined the Filipino nation in celebrating the feast of Sr. Sto. Niño with their own rendition of the Sinulog festival on January 19, 2025. The vibrant celebration, filled with deep faith and cultural tradition, began with a solemn Holy Mass, followed by a fluvial parade that commenced from Barangay Lapinig.

 

The fluvial parade, a highlight of the festivities, traveled through Lapinig Islet before making its way to Balingoan Port. Upon arrival, devotees warmly welcomed the image of the Sto. Niño, a symbol of their enduring devotion and gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon their town. The celebration continued with a procession through the main streets of Balingoan, attracting hundreds of faithful participants, all eager to express their devotion to the Holy Child.

 

This annual tradition has become a highly anticipated event for the residents of Balingoan, who deeply believe in the miraculous blessings brought by Sr. Sto. Niño. The community’s unwavering faith was evident as families and local organizations came together to honor the revered patron.

 

Ensuring the safety and security of the event, key law enforcement agencies played a crucial role in overseeing the festivities. The Philippine Ports Authority, Philippine Coast Guard, PNP-Maritime Police, PNP Balingoan Municipal Police Station, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams, and other volunteer groups collaborated to implement comprehensive safety measures and operational plans.

 

Thanks to the meticulous coordination and commitment of all involved, the fluvial parade and accompanying events proceeded smoothly without any reported safety or security incidents. Moreover, the celebration was conducted seamlessly, allowing port operations to continue without disruption.

 

The success of Sinulog sa Balingoan 2025 is a testament to the town’s collective effort and devotion, further strengthening their cultural and religious identity. As the town looks forward to next year’s celebration, the spirit of faith and unity continues to thrive within the community.
