In support and active participation to the city-wide Rabies Control and Eradication Program, the Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro continues its campaign for Dog/Cat Free Zone by impounding stray animals in ports.

On 10 November 2021, three (3) stray cats were captured by port personnel in CDO Port, and were turned over to the City Veterinary Department of Cagayan de Oro on the following day.

The City Vet commended the PMO’s active role in the implementation of the Program at the ports. The said Office conferred a Certificate of Appreciation to PMO MO/C in 2019 for the latter’s unwavering support to the said program.

The PMO initiated the creation of its own internal Task Force  named as “Dog-free Zone Task Force,” responsible for the capture and impounding of stray dogs and cats at ports. The Task Force is composed of personnel from the Port Police Division and the PMO’s Environment Specialist.

Since 2019, the PMO has captured nine (9) stray dogs and nine (9) cats inside the Baseport.
