Cagayan de Oro- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) organized a comprehensive Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Campaign for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) on November 22, 2023, at the Grand Caprice Restaurant and Convention Center. The event aimed to disseminate crucial information about the Philippine Identification System.

The event’s discussions were both informative and engaging, providing attendees with valuable insights into the PhilSys and its associated initiatives. Ms. Joy E. Llido, the Registration Officer III, delivered a comprehensive overview of the National ID Card. During her presentation, she highlighted the essential aspects of Republic Act 11055, the law that established PhilSys, emphasizing its role in promoting efficient service delivery, enhancing public safety, and facilitating ease of doing business.

Ms. Llido also shed light on the specific provisions of RA 11055 that address the replacement of National ID Cards for individuals affected by natural calamities. This provision ensures that those who lose their ID cards due to unforeseen events can easily obtain replacements. Additionally, she provided insights into the issuance of the Ephil ID, a digital counterpart that adds an extra layer of convenience for cardholders.

Following Ms. Llido’s presentation, the floor was handed over to the next speaker who delved into the PHILSYS Check and other API Authentication Services. This segment provided a deeper understanding of the technology and security measures embedded in the National ID system. Participants gained insights into the various ways the system safeguards sensitive information and ensures secure transactions.

The concluding presentation of the event was delivered by Ms. Maria Guada L. Flores, who provided an update on the status of registration and distribution of PhilID in Region 10. Ms. Flores shared key milestones achieved in the region, highlighting the growing number of registrations and the successful distribution of PhilID cards to eligible citizens.

The event not only served as a platform to disseminate crucial information but also encouraged an interactive dialogue between the speakers and the audience. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, seek clarifications, and actively engage with the speakers, fostering a sense of community awareness and involvement.
