The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MOC) representatives composed of both regular and Contract of Service personnel, attended the seminar titled “Ecosystems Under Threat: Understanding Ecosystems and the Environment” held at the CGDNM Conference Room, Gate 4, Port Area, Puntod, Cagayan de Oro City on March 19, 2025. This half-day seminar aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of ecosystem dynamics, individual responsibilities in environmental conservation, and practical strategies to mitigate ecological threats.
Key discussions centered on the anatomy of ecosystems, emphasizing the interconnected relationships between living organisms and their physical environment. The seminar underscored the critical roles individuals play in maintaining ecological balance, emphasizing the necessity of informed actions in both professional and personal capacities. Participants were also introduced to effective approaches to environmental stewardship, including sustainable resource management, waste reduction initiatives, and community-driven conservation efforts.
Through this engagement, attendees gained valuable insights into proactive environmental stewardship, reinforcing the importance of integrating eco-friendly practices into both professional responsibilities and daily routines. This initiative aligns with PPA’s commitment to sustainability and its vision of becoming a Green Port by embedding environmentally responsible practices into port operations. By participating in this seminar, PMO MO/C representatives reaffirmed their dedication to “walking the talk” in environmental stewardship—ensuring that sustainability is not just a goal but a continuous practice in port management and beyond.
