The Port Management of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MOC) proudly participated in the National Maritime Week and National Seafarer’s Day Opening Program, held at the PPA MOC Passenger Terminal Building. This annual event celebrated the significant contributions of the maritime sector and honored the dedication of seafarers.
The day’s festivities commenced early in the morning with the traditional dressing of ships, where vessels adorned themselves in vibrant flags. This was followed by the ceremonial Blowing of Horns, a jubilant expression of solidarity among the maritime community.

A poignant moment of the program was the Floral Offering at Sea, where participants honored those who have lost their lives in maritime service. Flowers were cast onto the sea, symbolizing respect and remembrance for the sacrifices made by maritime heroes.

The celebration continued with a Holy Mass, providing attendees with a reflective moment of gratitude for the maritime industry’s blessings. Following the Mass, the Philippine Coast Guard organized a short program that featured speeches and presentations highlighting the importance of maritime safety, environmental responsibility, and the invaluable role of seafarers.

The event was a meaningful gathering, reinforcing the commitment of PMO MOC to support the maritime industry and promote a culture of safety and stewardship. As the festivities unfolded, it was evident that National Maritime Week serves not only as a celebration but also as a call to action for continuous improvement and unity within the maritime community.
