As part of the continuous efforts under the Integrated Management System (IMS) and Green Port Award System, the Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MO/C) conducted Water Effluent Test, a key requirement for the renewal of the Port’s Wastewater Discharge Permit. The monitoring was conducted on 25 November 2024, facilitated by the PMO MO/C Environmental specialist, and executed by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources- Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) personnel at the PMO-MO/C’s Powerhouse. The Port of Cagayan de Oro conducts Water Effluent Tests to ensure that the water being discharged from the powerhouse wastewater treatment facility meets environmental standards.
The Water Effluent Test, carried out at the Port’s Powerhouse, is part of PMO MO/C’s ongoing commitment to maintaining sustainable practices and safeguarding local water quality. Moreover, the monitoring is under Republic Act (RA) No. 9275 or the Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004, wherein the law ensures the safeguarding of various water resources against pollution brought about by commercial, industrial, and agricultural activities. Also, the said conduct of effluent monitoring is a requirement of the Wastewater Discharge Permit issued by the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) – DENR.
