The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro welcomed a Philippine Navy vessel in the Port of Cagayan de Oro on 26 January 2021, that unloaded medical supplies and goods for distribution to target provinces in Visayas and Mindanao.
Ship BRP Tarlac (LD601) carried boxes of supplies of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), face masks, face shields, alcohol and a range of toiletries. Through the Office of Civil Defense, these supplies are intended to be distributed to the uniformed personnel in Cagayan de Oro City, and the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Iloilo, and Cebu. The said vessel will be calling to other ports to deliver the rest of their cargoes.
The PMO MO/C through advance coordination by the Naval Installation and Facilities Eastern Mindanao, facilitated the arrival of their vessel through berth allocation and prompt tugboat assistance. The Team, headed by Capt. Norman A. Mutia, PN (GSC), Commanding Officer, LD601 made a courtesy call with Port Manager Isidro V. Butaslac Jr. on 28 January 2021.
The PMO is one of the members of the Logistics Cluster of the City LGU’s Contingency Plan for COVID-19, tasked to provide logistics support services such as transportation and warehousing, and in-charge of the fast and efficient delivery of logistical supplies for COVID-19-related efforts.
In 2019, PMO MO/C in coordination with the City LGU and Philippine Coast Guard, also extended assistance to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-VI for the transport of relief goods to the quake-hit Kidapawan City, Cotabato.
