Baseport, Cagayan de Oro – A Port Security Orientation was successfully conducted on March 12, 2025, facilitated by the Port Police Division (PPD) and participated in by private security agencies operating within the port. The activity was spearheaded by PPSUPT. Medardo I. Sosobrado, Chief of the Port Police Division, and CPPO Zaldy E. Magtagad. Detachment Commander Edwin Embradora, the overall head of Advance Forces Security and Investigation Services Inc. (AFSISI), also served as one of the presenters.
The orientation aimed to enhance the professional competence of security personnel by addressing key aspects of their roles and responsibilities. The following essential topics were presented and thoroughly discussed:
1. Customer Relation Service – emphasizing effective communication, courtesy, and professionalism in dealing with port clients and stakeholders.
2. Basic Report Writing – providing guidelines for accurate, factual, and timely documentation of incidents and activities.
3. Public Expectation to a Private Security Professional – focusing on the importance of proper posture, gesture, and demeanor as part of the professional conduct expected from Private Security Personnel (PSP).
4. Maritime Security Awareness Training (MSAT) – enhancing vigilance, proactive response, and adherence to security protocols in safeguarding the port premises.
The orientation was attended by security personnel from Advance Forces Security and Investigation Services Inc. (AFSISI), composed of security guards, and Commander Security Services Inc. (CSSI), composed of baggage X-Ray machine screeners.
The activity concluded with an open forum where participants’ questions and operational concerns were addressed, ensuring a unified approach to port security operations.
