Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental— The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro officially concludes the 23rd National Maritime Week Celebration on Thursday, 29 September 2022.
The Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao (CGDNM), Marine Industry Authority (MARINA), and other maritime agencies and stakeholders namely, PNP Maritime Group (RMU 10), Capitol University Maritime Department, Oroport Cargohandling Services, Inc. (OROPORT), Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation (PSPC), Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary 1001st Squadron (PCGA), Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro (RCCDO), Macajalar Wharf Porters’ Association (MWPA), Cagayan Harbor Pilots, Inc. (CHPI), Philippine Liner Shipping Association (PLSA), and Stella Maris Apostleship of the Sea participated in the program.
The closing event started with a Eucharistic Celebration organized by Stella Maris to give thanks to the Almighty Father for His constant guidance and provision. The closing program followed afterwards, with performances from the host agency, the Philippine Ports Authority, Philippine Coast Guard, OROPORT, and Capitol University Maritime Students. Awards were also given to the winners of the sports friendship games and poster making contest. Port Manager Isidro V. Butaslac, Jr. together with the Regional Director Anabell Lagas and CGDNM District Commander CG CAPT GERONIMO B TUVILLA MPSA also expressed their sincere gratitude to the agencies and stakeholders who took part in this year’s celebration. In another venue, a bloodletting activity was also conducted in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro and Rotary Spouses. The theme, “Dugo ko, kinabuhi mo” highlights the efforts and initiatives of participating maritime agencies and stakeholders to serve the public, especially those in need.
Towards the end of the closing program, PM Butaslac officially turned over the National Maritime Week Flag to the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) represented by Regional Director Annabell Lagas, as they take on the duties and responsibilities as the host agency for the 24th National Maritime Week next year.
