The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MOC) actively participated in the Regional Children’s Month Kick-Off Ceremony, which was held on Sunday, November 10, 2024, from at Xavier University—Ateneo de Cagayan Senior High School, Upper Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City. The event was organized in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Cagayan de Oro City and the City Council for the Protection of Children.

The event marked the beginning of the 32nd celebration of National Children’s Month (NCM), a nationwide observance held every November by Republic Act No. 10661. This law was enacted to commemorate the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) on November 20, 1989. The NCM serves as an important occasion for promoting the protection and well-being of children in the Philippines, raising awareness of children’s rights, and ensuring that they grow up in a safe and supportive environment.

The theme for this year’s NCM is “Violence Against Children (VAC) with the tagline ‘Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines.'” This theme highlights the urgency of addressing the growing concern of violence against children, urging communities, organizations, and government institutions to work together to prevent abuse, exploitation, and neglect. The theme also emphasizes the vital role of creating safe spaces for children where they can thrive, learn, and grow free from harm.
With the theme “Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, creating a Safe Philippines,” the 32nd National Children’s Month serves as a strong call to action for everyone to work together in protecting the most vulnerable members of society—our children.

The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro is proud to be a part of this vital movement, supporting a future where every child can grow up free from violence and with the rights they deserve.
