In celebration of the 124th Philippine Independence Day and 72nd Anniversary of the Declaration of the City Charter, Cagayan de Oro City invited the Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro during its activities for this year’s “Himugso – Birthing a City. Birthing a Nation. Birthing Tomorrow.” from June 12 to June 15, 2022.
Honoring the historic events in our country and the city, organizers prepared a line-up of activities for the three-day celebration. Personnel from the PMO MO/C participated in the 124th Independence Day Flag-Raising Ceremony held on 12 June 2022 at the city’s plaza as well as the Charter Day Parade on June 15, where City Mayor Oscar S. Moreno delivered his term report detailing the achievements and contributions during his entire term of office. On the same day, PMO Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro, represented by Port Services Division Manager Ruby Maria O. Gumapon, attended the annual Pahinungod – a Dinner Tribute to the City’s Partners in Development held at the Luxe Hotel, Limketkai Center. Philippine Ports Authority was awarded with a plaque for its support and partnership with the City which has contributed to Cagayan de Oro’s growth, competitiveness, resilience, and ascendance to core city status in the Philippines’ 4th economic center: Metropolitan Cagayan de Oro.
The PMO has partnered with the city government in various projects, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic – from the implementation of public health protocols to facilitating the transportation of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and returning OFWs. Recently, the Port of Cagayan de Oro was activated as the 12th OSS for Seafarers International Crew Change Hub in the country, which brings more opportunities for the city, particularly its foreign relations.
PMO MO/C expresses its sincere gratitude to Hon. Oscar S. Moreno and the City Government of Cagayan de Oro for their sustained collaboration and shall continue to support its future plans and programs.-BCAcedera
