13 July 2022, Cagayan de Oro City — The OSS for Seafarers Crew Change Hub facilitated the crew change for Liberia-flag vessel MV TINA S on 13-14 July 2022 at the Port of Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental. Partner agencies such as the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ), Bureau of Immigration (BI), Bureau of Customs (BOC), Marine Industry Authority (MARINA), Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) were all in attendance to facilitate the crew change protocols.
Onsigners (embarking seafarers) were quarantined first at the designated facility before they arrived at the OSS Facility on the afternoon of 13 July 2022, wherein they complied with the crew change health protocols and presented their documents to the respective agencies stationed thereat. After their requirements were evaluated and verified, they were transported to the vessel at anchorage via tugboat, assisted by representatives of the Philippine Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao.
Meanwhile, offsigners (disembarking seafarers) arrived at the port on 14 July 2022, escorted by the Philippine Coast Guard and the Port Police. After the verification and screening process, they were escorted by the PNP Maritime Unit to the designated facility for their mandatory COVID testing five-day quarantine, wherein they will be thoroughly monitored by the medical staff from the Department of Health – Northern Mindanao.
A total of fourteen (14) onsigners and twelve (12) offsigners were handled at the OSS Facility, the second crew change operations conducted in Cagayan de Oro City since its activation on 30 May 2022.-BCAcedera
