On September 6, 2024, the Mana Mo 2024 Tree Planting Activity occurred at 7 AM in the lush surroundings of Mapawa Nature Park, Malasag Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City. This event underscored the power of community collaboration in environmental conservation.

During the activity, a total of 300 tugas tree seedlings were planted. The tugas tree, known for its ecological benefits, including soil stabilization and support for local wildlife, was chosen to enhance the park’s natural environment.

The event brought together 16 dedicated individuals from various organizations including 9 personnel from PPA (PMO MOC), 6 Participants from Butchay Trucking, and 1 Representative from DENR (Department of Environment and Natural Resources): Mr. Ben P. Labininay. Each participant contributed to the success of the tree-planting initiative, reflecting a strong commitment to improving the local ecosystem.

MANA Mo, observed every September, is designed to raise awareness about the Philippines’ extensive maritime domains and their potential. It consolidates maritime-related observances into a single month, including National Seafarers’ Day and National Maritime Week. The initiative also integrates community-focused activities such as tree planting and coastal clean-up drives to promote a holistic approach to maritime and environmental stewardship.

The Mana Mo 2024 Tree Planting Activity not only contributed to the beautification of Mapawa Nature Park but also highlighted the importance of collective action in environmental stewardship. The newly planted tugas trees will play a vital role in the park’s ecosystem, promoting biodiversity and enhancing the natural landscape.
