The Philippine’s biggest seaport Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) managed and operated by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is now fully operational to serve the seagoing passengers at the Port of Cagayan de Oro.
After all the necessary preparations were in-placed —from the installation of all the advanced technology of surveillance cameras up to the conduct of series of dry-runs/ simulation of the operation flow, the PTB was officially opened on 29 December 2019, in time for the influx of passengers for the holidays.
Terminal Fee is pegged at P 25.00 while senior citizens, students, PWDs, selected uniformed personnel, recipients of the medal of valor and their first-degree kin are exempted from the payment thereof per PPA Memorandum Circulars 02-2019 and 08-2019.
The PTB, which is equipped with facilities for maximum safety and security and houses GAD amenities, can cater up to 3,000 passengers at any given time. Luggage trollies were also available that can be brought up to the boarding gate for the convenience of the passengers. Booths of shipping lines are situated in the departure area to accommodate trip-related inquiries and for boarding announcements. —by IMR Lam
