The City Government of Cagayan de Oro represented by Mayor Oscar S. Moreno officially turned-over a thermal scanner to the Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro thru a Deed of Donation inked during the ceremonial signing with Port Manager Isidro V. Butaslac Jr. on 19 August 2021.

The multiple scanner equipment which was installed at the Port of Cagayan de Oro on 04 June 2020, greatly aided the efficient no-contact temperature scanning of all inbound individuals especially at the height of the repatriation activities of the government last year when the Port was daily receiving multiple batches of Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs) and Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) including those who would go home to other regions and provinces outside Northern Mindanao. It served as an additional tool for the preventive measures being implemented by the PMO in ports against the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The said equipment has a built-in intelligent facial recognition system with big data analysis that can generate health data, statistical report and analysis of epidemic trend, among other features.
