The Camiguin Police Provincial Office in coordination with the Terminal Management Office of Camiguin (TMO Camiguin) conducted a simulation exercise (SimEx) on bombing incident at the Port of Benoni on 24 December 2019.
The SimEx was conducted to test the operational readiness and capability of the personnel of the Philippine National Police and other involved agencies, in ensuring the safety and security of the sea-going passengers and the general public at the entry and exit points of the Province such as the ports, especially during peak seasons like the Christmas holidays.
The exercise was participated by PNP’s rescue team, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO), barangay LGU, among others.
All the participants gathered together first for a short briefing and/or review of plans before proceeding to the drill. The area was cordoned to prevent civilians from getting near the place where there was a supposed planted bomb. Supposed injured individuals were immediately attended by the rescue team.
In pursuance of the safety and security of the passengers at the ports under its jurisdiction, the TMO Camiguin also participates in the quarterly National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill. — by IMR Lam
