In a bid to elevate the standards of maritime travel and accommodate the surge of passengers during the upcoming peak season, the Port Manager of PMO MO/C, Isidro Butaslac Jr, accompanied by his division managers, embarked on a sneak peek visit to the latest addition to 2GO’s M series–MASIKAP which made its maiden voyage in Cagayan de Oro today, February 16, 2024. This will serve as a temporary replacement for the MV 2GO Masagana which is scheduled for drydocking.
The tour highlighted the vessel’s modern facilities designed to cater to the comfort and convenience of passengers. Spacious cabins, well-appointed lounges, and dining areas equipped with the latest entertainment systems were just a few features that caught the attention of the visiting team.
With a capacity to accommodate up to 784 passengers, the “Masikap” prioritizes passenger comfort and convenience. However, due to ongoing construction, it currently caters to 484 passengers, ensuring safety and quality service are not compromised during this phase.
Furthermore, the vessel boasts a cargo capacity of up to 210 TEUs (Twenty Equivalent Units), ensuring efficient transportation of goods across routes. Its impressive gross tonnage of 19,659 and total LOA (Length Overall) of 159.47 meters underline its capability to handle substantial cargo volumes while maintaining stability and maneuverability.
The maiden voyage of Masikap in Cagayan de Oro holds immense significance for the port and to have been greeted with such enthusiasm and genuine warmth by the 2GO team made the visit an unforgettable experience.
