The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro wrapped up another year of productivity and resiliency with its annual thanksgiving activities on 17 and 20 December 2021.
The Year-end Thanksgiving kicked-off with a Eucharistic Mass on 17 December 2021 attended by personnel (regular and outsourced) in the actual venue following health and safety protocols. The Eucharistic celebration was presided by Fr. Mars Tan, SJ, University President of Xavier University—Ateneo de Cagayan, who has been also engaging with the PMO for various environmental activities for several years.
In a short program after the mass, Port Manager Isidro V. Butaslac Jr. delivered a message for all the men and women of the PMO. He recapped the PMO MOC’s achievements and awards in 2021 that included the two-peat Green Port recognition of CDO Port from the APEC Port Services Network, and as one of the Outstanding Agency-members of the Regional Development Council under the RDC “Xcellence Amihanan Awards”. The Port Manager expressed his thanks and gratitude to each of the Divisions and Units for their hard work, commitment, and resilience amidst the pandemic. He also gave an overview of some of the projects and major undertakings that will be implemented next year.
Gift-giving to frontliners
In the afternoon of even date, the PMO headed by Port Manager. Butaslac Jr., distributed food packs and goodies to more than 150 beneficiaries that included the porters, coastal community auxiliary members and their children, and security personnel at the Port of Cagayan de Oro. This activity was co-organized by the Philippine Coast Guard and the PCG Auxiliary 1001st Squadron, and in partnership with Kiwanis Club-Macajalar.
This activity was conducted to give due recognition to the indefatigable service and dedication of the frontliners during the ongoing pandemic and to aid those who may have been affected by the recent Typhoon “Odette”.
Awarding and Recognition
Through a virtual program on 20 December 2021, the PMO gave honor and recognition to several identified employees who have shown commendable and exemplary performance at work. Long Service awardees were also lauded during the said program.
