The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro commenced the conduct of the Basic Port Operations Seminar (BPOS) on 15 February 2021 for the personnel and workers of port service providers.
To gather more participants while still maintaining compliance to the minimum public health standards and for them to be able to attend the seminar right at their own respective workplace or at the comfort of their homes, the BPOS was conducted virtually. It will be organized in series to cater the representatives from PTO holders. The first batch drew 34 participants.
The conduct of BPOS is mandated under PPA Administrative Order No. 09-2020 or the Revised Guidelines on the Issuance of Permit to Operate (PTO) for the Provision of Ancillary Services in the Ports as a post-approval condition in the issuance of PTO from which personnel and workers of the PTO holders are informed and oriented on the port’s operations, safety, health, environment, security protocols, and other relevant updates and announcements. Workers/representatives of PTO holders are required to attend the seminar before transacting or entering the PPA premises. Furthermore, participation thereof shall be credited as a two (2)-hour training.
Also discussed during the first online BPOS was the mandatory tree/mangrove planting as a condition for the issuance of accreditation, Certificate of Registration, appointment, or Award of Contract or renewal/extension thereof per PPA Administrative Order No.14-2020.
PMO initially scheduled the conduct of BPOS every Monday and Friday of the week from which invited port service providers can choose their preferred schedule through pre-registration.
