Cagayan de Oro City – In a move to foster collaboration and excellence in port operations, the Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MO/C) hosted a benchmarking event with the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) and Oriental Port and Allied Services Corporation (OPASCOR) today, March 11, 2025. The event aimed to facilitate the exchange of best practices, particularly in green port initiatives
The program commenced with preliminaries and PMO MOC showcased its Safety Protocols, ensuring all attendees aligned with the port’s safety guidelines. PMO MO/C Acting Port Manager warmly welcomed the CPA and OPASCOR delegation, recognizing the significance of benchmarking as a strategic initiative to enhance port efficiency and competitiveness. The CPA team also shared their insights, reinforcing the importance of adopting innovative port strategies. An audio-visual presentation, “Global Gateway to Mindanao,” showcased the vital role of PMO MO/C in regional trade and connectivity.
One of the event’s highlights was the GPAS (Green Port Award System) Overview, which was presented by the Port Services Division Manager, Ruby Maria O. Gumapon. The discussion provided an in-depth look at the Green Port Award System and how it aligns with national sustainability goals. Further, Environmental Specialist Core D. Suan led the Green Port Practices Presentation, emphasizing innovative approaches to green port initiatives which led to 3 PEAT awards since 2018.
Additionally, OROPORT also shared its company profile and its good practices in Safety, Health, and Environment. The benchmarking event also featured an open forum where CPA and OPASCOR officials engaged in discussions with PMO MO/C experts on various port management challenges and solutions for continued growth and innovation.
The event concluded with a Facility Tour, allowing CPA officials to witness firsthand the infrastructure, operational efficiency, and sustainability efforts of PMO MO/C. With this successful exchange, PMO MO/C and CPA reaffirm their dedication to enhancing port operations through shared knowledge, innovation, and sustainable practices.
