The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro donated relief goods to 110 families or 488 individuals who lost their homes and belongings due to a fire on 15 July 2019 that razed their area in Sitio Mulmac, Barangay Macabalan, which is adjacent to the Port of Cagayan de Oro .

More than 100 bags of relief goods were distributed on 19 July 2019 to the victims who are temporarily staying in the Macabalan Elementary School’s covered court. The distribution was assisted by personnel from City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) and the LGU Macabalan for orderliness and to ensure that all families received their bags of goods.

The distribution of relief bags was an immediate response of the PMO to the affected community as part of the PMO’s “Malasakit” campaign. The Office is currently collecting in-kind donations such as kitchenware, eating utensils, used clothing, among others, that are scheduled to be distributed next week in the evacuation area. —IMR Lam
