The Port Management Office (PMO) of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro recently conducted a 5S and Housekeeping Seminar. This initiative was in collaboration with Dr. April Melinda P. Mangotara, a faculty member from the Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Department at Cagayan de Oro College – PHINMA Education. The seminar took place on December 17, 2024, at the Gad Hall Building 2.
The seminar was designed to introduce and reinforce the fundamental principles of the 5S methodology—Sort, set in order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain—among the personnel at the Port Management Office. As port services grow and evolve, it is essential to minimize inefficiencies, reduce operational hazards, and maintain a clean and organized work environment. By instilling these practices, PMO Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro is poised to enhance productivity, promote employee satisfaction, and continue its commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
The seminar was just one step in the Port Management Office’s ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency and employee well-being. As part of the ISO certification process, maintaining and building on the 5S principles will require regular monitoring, employee engagement, and sustained commitment across all levels of the organization.
