In support of the Department of Transportation’s thrust for safer, more sustainable, and secure journeys across the seas, MARINA Regional Office NO. 10 launched the “Maritime Safety Culture Awareness Campaign Caravan 2024” at the Port of Balingoan on 13 November 2024 9AM.

With the theme “Ligtas Byaheng Dagat”, the campaign serves as a crucial initiative to enhance maritime safety culture, promote the reduction of plastic litter in our waters, and raise awareness of passenger rights anchored on wide information dissemination to the public on safety standards, environmental responsibility, and passenger rights awareness.

The caravan commenced with a motorcade plying the main street of the municipality to the Port of Balingoan where a brief program followed for the launching of the campaign and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between MARINA and the Local Government Unit of Balingoan. The program was graced by the presence of the Balingoan Municipal Mayor Aaron Paul S. Unabia and heads of the MARINA-10, Philippine Coast Guard Northern Mindanao, Philippine Ports Authority TMO Balingoan and other government agencies. Highlights of the program include the messages of support from the maritime agencies and LGU and the signing of the pledge of commitment.
