A cargo handling tariff rate increase proposed by the Oroport Cargo Handling Services, Inc. was duly deliberated by port stakeholders and concerned agencies through a public hearing attended by the PPA Board of Directors’ Technical Working Group, as hearing panel, on 04 April 2019 at the GAD Hall, PMO MOC Building 2.
The proposed tariff rate adjustment of 17.80% for cargohandling services of Oroport was an offshoot of the increasing Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the Philippines (per CPI formula pursuant to PPA A.O 02-2018). The Oroport further proposed the inclusion of the currently charged rates for other services in the tariff.
The public hearing was conducted to ensure transparency, comprehensive deliberation, and active participation of stakeholders on the application of adjustment of CH tariff.
Participants were given 10 days to submit their respective position paper for any further comments and recommendations relative to the proposal.
Approval of the adjusted CH tariff is vested to the PPA Board of Directors.—By IMR Lam
