The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MOC) employees attended the much-anticipated launch of the Seafood Village at the BFAR 10 Office in Macabalan, Cagayan de Oro City. This event is a cornerstone of the 61st Fish Conservation (FishCon) Week, celebrated by the Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 10 from September 16 to 20, 2024.
The Seafood Village initiative aims to spotlight the rich array of fishery products from local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across Northern Mindanao. The Seafood Village serves as a dynamic platform for these enterprises to showcase their high-quality seafood, fostering greater visibility and supporting the growth of local seafood industries.
The launch of the Seafood Village aligns with the theme of this year’s FishCon Week, “Sama-sama Tungo sa Maunlad at Likas-Kayang Pangisdaan sa Bagong Pilipinas,” which translates to “Together Towards a Progressive and Sustainable Fisheries in the New Philippines.” This theme highlights the collective effort required to advance both the economic and environmental aspects of the fisheries sector.
