The Port Management of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PMO MOC) has been recognized for its exemplary service and unwavering support during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Region 10 bestowed the prestigious Plaque of Commendation for PMO MOC during the Gabing Parangal at Pasasalamat, held on August 23, 2024, at the Mallberry Business Suites Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.
The event served as a platform for OWWA to express gratitude and acknowledge the heroic contributions of its institutional partners. The Port Manager, Isidro V. Butaslac, alongside Port Services Division Manager Ruby Maria Gumapon and Executive Assistant Jurylie Pacturan, received the Plaque of Commendation on behalf of the organization.
The PMO MOC played a crucial role in the success of the “OWWA Uwi-an Na Program: Sweeper Flights and Malasakit Voyages,” which facilitated the safe return of repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to their home provinces during the height of the pandemic. Their dedication ensured that distressed OFWs and their families were brought back home efficiently and safely, a task that required coordination, resources, and a deep commitment to public service.
The recognition highlights not only the operational excellence of the PMO MOC but also their compassionate response during one of the most challenging times in recent history. Their efforts are a testament to the spirit of bayanihan and heroism that has defined the Filipino response to crises.
The Gabing Parangal at Pasasalamat stands as a reminder of the collective efforts of various institutions and individuals who stepped up during the pandemic, ensuring the well-being and safe return of thousands of OFWs. The honor received by the PMO MOC serves as an inspiration for continued service and dedication to the Filipino people.
