Cagayan de Oro City- On June 4, 2024, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) held its session of the “Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas,” at Mallberry Suites Business Hotel. The event was participated by key figures in the transportation sector, including Port Manager Isidro Butaslac Jr. of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) and Regional Directors from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), Land Transportation Office (LTO) and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

The Kapihan aims to highlight the policies and programs of the DOTr and its agencies, showcase the accomplishments and projects of the regional offices, and provide a platform for direct interaction with the public and media to address concerns and queries.

Port Manager Isidro Butaslac Jr. presented the accomplishments and ongoing projects of the Philippine Ports Authority through an engaging Audio-Visual Presentation. This presentation provided an insightful overview of the PPA’s efforts to improve port facilities, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure passenger safety.

In response to a media inquiry regarding passenger safety at sea, Port Manager Butaslac provided a concise and reassuring answer. He emphasized that the PMO MOC maintains rigorous standards, evidenced by their continued certification to ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management Systems), ISO 14001:2018 (Environmental Management Systems), and ISO 45001:2015 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems) by SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, Inc. These certifications underscore the PMO MOC’s commitment to upholding the highest safety, environmental responsibility, and quality in port operations.

The Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas event effectively spotlighted the regional accomplishments of the Department of Transportation, fostering greater public awareness and appreciation of the government’s efforts to improve transportation systems nationwide.
