On May 18, 2024, the Port Management of Misamis Oriental (PMO MOC) hosted an educational port visit for graduate school students studying advanced production and operations from Xavier University and Capitol University. This immersive experience aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of port operations and cargo handling processes at Cagayan de Oro Port, one of the busiest and most strategic ports in the Philippines.
The port briefing commenced with a warm welcome from Port Manager Isidro Butaslac, who delivered an insightful opening remarks to the visiting students. Accompanying his remarks, a series of audio-visual presentations (AVPs) were shown, offering an overview of the port’s operations, security measures, and safety protocols. These presentations set the stage for a deeper exploration of the port’s functions.
After the briefing and initial observations, students were given a comprehensive tour of the port facilities. This tour allowed them to see various aspects of the port’s operations in action, reinforcing their understanding of the theoretical concepts learned in class.
