Cagayan de Oro City- The Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro, headed by Port Manager Isidro V. Butaslac Jr., conducted a terminal inspection in Ports under its administrative jurisdiction on March 31 to April 1, 2023 in order to assess the readiness of its terminals for the upcoming OPLAN Biyaheng Ayos: SEMANA SANTA AND SUMMER VACATION 2023.
The said inspections were part of the PMOโs continuing efforts to ensure the safety, security and convenience of the seagoing public. The PMO MO/C inspection team surveyed the condition of the portsโ facilities, amenities, equipment, and manpower complement to ensure compliance with the relevant safety and security regulations, identify any issues that may affect efficient flow of port operations, and to implement measures to address the same.
With the expected influx of passengers/travelers during the Holy Week, the Ports of Balingoan, Benoni, Balbagon, and Guinsiliban are gearing up to ensure a safe, smooth and convenient movement of people and goods to and from the island by ensuring the availability facilities, increasing the number of security personnel, deploying additional staff, posting of process flow, installation of safety, directional and information signages, provision of Public Assistance Complaints Des – Malasakit Helpdesks and close coordination with shipping companies. Moreover, the TMOs in coordination with the Maritime Industry, Law Enforcement Agencies and Local Government Units conducted a series of meetings to ensure the proper implementation of safety and security protocols and to facilitate an effective and efficient flow and passengers and cargoes during the season.
